URBAN DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
The planning perimeter has been defined for the open space to be located on a slope to the east. The building development under construction in Wilmisberg is intended both to connect and to add to the settlement, and is redefining its edge, such forming a transition to the open countryside. The development follows the terrain to fit in with the natural landscape. Twelve staggered structures of differing dimensions together create a clearly recognisable identity for the site. Inside the estate, a series of internal squares create gathering and living spaces. The surrounding landscape will be left in its natural form, interconnected by a small amount of paths. Noise pollution from the highway, streets and railways is not considered critical. This allows freedom in the design of the exterior spaces.

LANDSCAPE CONCEPT
The alternation of wooded watercourses and open meadows with occasional fruit trees divides the west slope of the Rontal between Dierikon and Honau into individual landscape zones. The area of Wilmisberg is situated in one of these zones. The design concept for the surroundings reflects the typology of this landscape division. The edges of these zones – the woods around the Geissbach and Chlausbach streams – are being enlarged, and the open meadows with their fruit trees are incorporated into the estate and blend seamlessly into the landscape.
The mature topography has been left as untouched as possible. The estate’s proposed internal open spaces with their cultivated fruit trees and floral lawns differentiate them from the surrounding orchards. It would be possible to plant ornamental fruit trees over the underground garage. Lively local meeting places are being created along the connecting routes in the interior of the estate. These are attractive for various people: The design proposed playgrounds, neighborhood squares, and areas for relaxation. A large playing field in the northwest supplements the design.

TYPOLOGY OF HOUSES AND APARTMENTS
The clear, simple structure complies with the request for a variety of dwelling units. The floor plans of the various buildings permit different layouts. The cubic form of the buildings allows for flexible, compact construction. With their homogenous materials and coordinated roof shapes, the buildings appear as a single unit and form an ensemble in terms of their design. The roofs blend into the historic surroundings of the village with their red photovoltaic panels, alluding to red roof tiles.
